The Laredo congregation originally started at a smaller location on Laredo Street several years ago. But the growing congregation outgrew the building, which could only seat 100. Following an intense search for bigger premises, the church recently purchased a building that can hold up to 500 people. The new church also includes other facilities such as offices, children classrooms, youth halls and plenty of parking.

Laredo is located in the southern part of Texas, on the border with Mexico. It's become one of the fastest growing cities and largest inland ports in the U.S. Laredo today is a trading powerhouse, but its economic success has not been without problems. Constant drug wars and escalating violence have seen cocaine seizures exceeding two tons in the period from June through October, according to the New York Post. But in the middle of so many troubles, The Universal Church has brought hope and help to families and individuals in this town of 700,000 people.

Ms. Dora Rincon is an example of how the church has been successfully offering this help. She tells us that after just eight months attending the church, she has seen an enormous change in her life.

“I started attending The Universal Church in Laredo in April 2009. I was suffering from chronic arthritis, which is a joint disorder. I lost my business and for 23 years of my life I was addicted to marijuana, alcohol, and cocaine. Since December 2009 I have been completely healed and free from all addictions. Very soon I will open my own business once again."

Pastor Daniel Santos, in charge of the Laredo church, hopes to reach many more suffering lives. He asks all members of The Universal Church to keep the Laredo church in their prayers so that it continues to grow.
