Lie with me
How can a person love cursing?
As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; as he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him. Psalm 109.17
How can a person love cursing?
Whenever someone mentions a curse, we automatically think about a person putting a curse on someone else, such as father to son, ex-girlfriend to an ex-boyfriend, and so on. However, a curse is the essence of sin working within a person, just as a blessing is the essence of the Spirit of God working within a person.
When someone surrenders to the pleasure of sin, he is surrendering to a curse. Look at the situation of Joseph of Egypt:
And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, “Lie with me.”
But he refused… So it was, as she spoke (curse) to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her.
But it happened about this time, …she (curse) caught him by his garments, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside. Genesis 39.7-12
It is no different today. Every day sin (curse) invites many, saying, “Lie with me.”
Adultery has said: Lie with me.
Prostitution has said: Lie with me.
Pornography has said: Lie with me
Corruption has said: Lie with me.
Malice has said: Lie with me.
Lies have said: Lie with me.
This is, curses in the form of pleasures have invited many and, unfortunately, they have surrendered and lay down with her. But Joseph’s story shows that it is possible to resist a curse.
Even if you are harmed, humanly speaking, like Joseph was, it is still worth resisting! Because God honored Joseph and will honor you too, when you resist the invitation of a curse of sin that tenaciously harasses you saying, “Lie with me.”
May the Holy Spirit give us the resistance Joseph every day of our lives.
God bless you!
