WHY DO I FEEL EMPTY?

Do you feel empty? This is caused by the different things you want. If you want to change this and be successful, set boundaries for yourself, that is, be the master of your desires.

We hear a lot about emptiness nowadays, probably because of the range of social media. Not because it didn’t exist in the past, but I also think that people are experiencing a much greater existential crisis than previously.

But despite so many offers, content and technologies, people are empty of many things they seek. As the Bible says, “The eye is not satisfied with seeing.” So, there is this infinite search for “more”. And what happens when human beings take possession of “more”? They will want even more because they can’t satisfy themselves.

The person thinks that what will bring satisfaction is what they don’t have. So, the person takes the focus off what they have, and their efforts go towards obtaining what they have not yet achieved. For example, people get into debt and buy with credit cards. All because they couldn’t wait and save the money to buy it. Buy now, but the person won’t be able to pay next month, and the interest will be like a snowball effect.

In relationships, people don’t look at their husband or wife. People look at what they don’t have. And what they have loses its value in their eyes. Thus, people discard marriage.

People break their relationship with God because, they think, it deprives them of having things. Many Christians look at unbelievers, saying: “I wanted the unbeliever’s life”. So, because of this constant dissatisfaction, they leave their life with God to go after the world.

This emptiness in people comes from the many things they want. When, in fact, if you look, truly successful people don’t have everything. These are people who learned to say no to themselves. “I don’t need to do this to show off, satisfy myself, or feel better.” They apply severity and discipline to their own lives.

In the world, people think: “the more I have, the happier I will be”. But happiness lies in being the master of your desires. In this comes peace. These people are fine because they have learned to value what they have.
