THIS IS THE LAW OF THE TEMPLE – DO YOU KNOW IT?
All the places you go have some kind of law or rule. Laws must exist in your life, not to harm you but to get rid of problems that you will not be able to get out of
Do you know what “the law of the temple” is? I will talk to you about the biblical passage regarding this term. God Himself spoke to the prophet Ezekiel. But, to put it into context, you probably live in a house. Where we live, there are rules. You will find laws anywhere. In fact, anarchists apply a law without knowing: “Our law is that we have no laws”. They have to obey this law that they have imposed on themselves. In other words, there is always “the law of the temple”.
The father says: “My son, as long as you live in my house, it will be like this”. So, the owner of the house usually dictates the rules. When a house has laws that are respected, everything usually works well. Laws and customs have a reason for existing.
In the Temple of Solomon, people cannot enter with a mobile phone. Some people prefer not to spend time with God than to enter without a mobile phone. But when they go to the airport, they stay without mobile phones. Why this “law”? Imagine there are 10,000 people in the Temple, how are we going to control 10,000 people with mobile phones? And if you have your mobile phone in hand, you will not pay attention. The mobile phone screams for our attention.
God gives Ezekiel a vision of what the perfect Temple would be like and how people would behave in and around the Temple.
“This is the law of the temple: The whole area surrounding the mountaintop is most holy. Behold, this is the law of the temple” (Ezequiel 43:12).
The place where the Temple was built was considered the most holy (something separate from other places). It was the utmost respect and separation between the Holy and the ordinary, the sacred and the profane. Unlike elsewhere, God wanted people to treat His House with fear, respect, and reverence. For example, the person had to present the offerings with a pure heart and present themselves with sincerity (even if they were loaded with sins). This was the law of the temple: that people treated the place as most holy.
In the Garden of Eden, God made everything but the Garden tree available to humanity. God gave everything to man, but He only asked for a bit of respect. It was so that man could have “everything” but with limits. People sometimes think that happiness is doing everything they want, but in fact, they will be a slave to their desires. Our will is against us. True happiness comes from: “I can do this, but I choose not to do it because I know it will have bad consequences”.
You are a house, a temple. If you do not have “the law of the temple”, things you say, “this I do not do”, you will be a slave to your will and will bring much pain to yourself and the people related to you.
The law protects you from yourself and from trouble you won’t be able to get out of.
