GOD CHOOSES THOSE WHO ARE AT A DISADVANTAGE

You may even be inferior and at a disadvantage for the people of this world, but you are the chosen one in the eyes of God. However, you must look at yourself this way!

God chooses those who are at a disadvantage. And you’ll understand why.

I want to go back in time to my school days, in my adolescence, when there was always a football match in my physical education class. The teacher took the two best students who played well and told them to pick the teams. So, the students were picking. The whole class awaited selection, and the teams were formed.

Those students who didn’t play well were always left for last. Usually, these were last, and something interesting happened: those who were last, most of the time, played very unwillingly. They knew they were there because they were the leftovers, the rest. So, as they felt like the last ones, they played the role of “bad players”. And what happened next time? They played terrible again.

Instead of playing better, they proved to those who chose them that they were right when they thought they were bad.

We all came into life being bad at what we did. For example: we were bad at talking, walking, cycling, playing football. But over time, we got good.

The biggest problem was not that the bad students did not know how to play; the worst thing was that they did not choose themselves; they proved that the opinion of others was correct.

God in His Word shows that He always chooses who is at a disadvantage, from Genesis to Revelation. Even the Son of God could have been attractive when he came into the world, but the Bible said he had no appearance. God has always shown an inclination to choose the rejected.

Let’s see what happened when the Lord Jesus called Matthew, who worked for Rome by taking taxes from the Jews. The people rejected him. Jesus chooses one of the most hated men in that region as a disciple. What happened? Jesus was judged for that choice.

“Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick” (Matthew 9:10-12).

So, God has always looked for the lost, the tired, the despised, the last. As an analogy: if Jesus was on the football pitch, he would choose the ones no one wanted and work with them to make the best team. And everyone would be surprised. Do you understand how God works? He chooses those who don’t have privileges.

If you fit into this disadvantaged situation, do not feel inferior. Perhaps, in other people’s eyes, you will be rated as inferior, but not in the eyes of God. But if you enter the pitch and behave like your colleagues who play badly, He can’t do anything for you. It’s you who needs to believe that He believes in you. And accept this choice, even if you don’t understand. “If He chose me, who am I not to choose me?”

So, if you are at a disadvantage and choose God, you will be a champion, an unlikely leader. People will say: “Who helped you? How did they do that?” And you can point to Him.
