The Holy Scriptures give us a very important warning: “[…] and be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23).

This is quite a warning for that person who has not yet fallen into sin as for the one who has already fallen. God’s intention is not to condemn but to save. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. He sacrificed His Son to give people deliverance from hell. And that’s why He warns: “your sin will not be hidden forever”.

Sin is not something you want to keep. “No one will know this. I’m not going to talk to anyone.” Recently, we received a case of a man who committed adultery. He didn’t expect it, but one thing led to another. After months, he went out on a date and fell. But it didn’t end there. His situation was very bad. He looked like David when he made a mistake with Bathsheba. He became a patient who always went to the doctor, who couldn’t find out what he had. His conscience was punishing his body. There is no peace for the one who lives in sin. And the warning is so that people don’t go through this.

So, if you are being tempted to join a scam to make more money, God is warning that you cannot hide your sin forever. There came a time when that man’s body was screaming, even if he did not admit the mistake with his mouth. Sin found him out. There is no way to commit “the perfect crime”. It may even be that no one finds out, but at least three people will know: you, God and the devil. What about Divine Justice? You can’t escape from your conscience. Satan is known as the “accuser”; he accuses your conscience. And you know that if you die, you will go to hell because you are in sin. A preview of hell settles in you. The person is disturbed. The devil will not send someone to sin without the bill being due later.

And for you who have already fallen into sin, there is only one way out: find the sin out before it finds you. Expose it before it exposes you. As David said, “I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin” (Psalm 32:5). So, show that there is a remnant of character in you, of the desire to do the right thing through confession. Otherwise, when your sin finds you, the shame will be great.
