HOW DOES THE NEWS WORK BEHIND THE SCENES (PART 3 – THE FACTORY OF RUMOURS)
Creating a news story doesn’t take a fact; it just takes a rumour. Be careful with the news you hear because it is a weapon.
Let’s conclude this topic on how the news work behind the scenes. We mentioned earlier (here and there) that whoever reports the news will usually do it biased in their favour. If the big bad wolf told the story of the little red riding hood, he would not be “bad”. So, knowing who reports the news is important before you believe what comes to you. And media companies are looking for money and influence (“power and influence” means “money” and vice versa).
The news reaches us in one way or another. We see it travel fast on social media and messaging apps. Those who consume this news must understand that someone is trying to manipulate the public. The best thing you can do is be careful not to be fooled.
The news often doesn’t work with facts. Every story needs a villain and a hero. So, whoever tells a story needs a villain. When a news outlet tells a story, it seeks to villainise someone (a politician, an institution). And who is the hero? It will depend on who is on the media side. Who usually elects a politician, for example, is the media because people do not realise that that newspaper or content has a goal.
And to vilify someone, it is not necessary to use facts; one rumour is enough. Professionals specialise in a non-compromising language. For example, at the time of the wide-enhanced persecution against the Universal church and Bishop Macedo, they wrote: “Bishop Macedo may be arrested next week”. Pay attention to the use of the expression “may be”. There doesn’t have to be a fact to become the news. Sometimes, “according to sources” appears (and the “source” is the head of the journalist himself). So, it’s enough that “it may be that someone has suggested”.
And making the news the right way takes work and generates expenses (of time and money). The person has to listen to both sides, research, ask, and go deeper. And who has time these days? Depending on the vehicle, the journalist has to produce 5, 7 or 10 articles per day in the newsrooms because that will generate clicks. And his management will account for how many clicks the article generates. Then, the journalist begins to notice which news gave the most clicks (generally, they are the most sensationalist, with rumours). How many people have been destroyed because of the media?
Then, it is said: “You have to sue them”. Justice takes a lot of time, and a “footnote” comes at most if you win.
It’s a system to destroy. The news is a weapon. In the Revelation, we see that the antichrist will have “a big mouth”. Perhaps you realise, these days, an attempt to control what is said (some people are even arrested); this is a rehearsal of what will come.
If you want the truth, you must seek the only source (the Lord Jesus). So, whoever seeks the truth seeks the Spirit of Truth. The truth sets the person free from this world.
