For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but WAS IN ALL POINTS TEMPTED as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4.15

When we talk about two types of faith, one that conquers and the other that keeps our Salvation, we are talking about faith associated with intelligence. This Intelligent Faith is undoubtedly one of the greatest revelations given to the Universal Church, and to Christianity in general, in recent years.

While thinking about this and the two types of faith that spiritual intelligence produces within us, I remembered the Lord Jesus and the moments when He manifested these two types of faith.

When we talk about faith that conquers, we have 35 extraordinary miracles recorded in the gospels, accomplished by the conquering faith of the Lord Jesus. And let’s just say, He performed many more miracles that were not recorded:

And there are also many other things that Jesus did, WHICH IF THEY WERE WRITTEN ONE BY ONE, I SUPPOSE THAT EVEN THE WORLD ITSELF COULD NOT CONTAIN THE BOOKS THAT WOULD BE WRITTEN. Amen. John 21.25

But, the same Lord Jesus, who conquered powerfully, had to defend His communion with the Father, which guaranteed Him the right to return to the throne that He once occupied. Yes, that’s right, Jesus needed to defend Himself from the various attacks of the devil, the world and His own flesh. He was in danger of failing His mission! Here are some examples of when He used the Faith that protects our communion with God:

• Fromhunger or physical need, our Lord was tempted or attacked in the wilderness. Just imagine a person not eating anything for 40 days. In Matthew 4.2, we read, “He was hungry.” The devil did not waste time and attacked Him, trying to persuade Him to do His will, but was overcome by hearing the words produced by the Faith that protects our Salvation:

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4.4

• From constant praise, our Lord was tempted to stand proud and receive for Himself the praise that should be for God the Father. I remember a passage in which a certain prince called Him “Good Teacher.” This may not seem like much to us because Jesus is a Good Teacher. But as a Servant of His Father, this praise would be harmful to His communion with the Father. It was 100% for the Father and 0% for the Son, who became a Servant. He did not hesitate, and replied:

Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. Luke 18.19

So, He remained humble and void of Himself, to be filled with the Spirit of the Father.

• From injustice.Our Lord was attacked aggressively. He was about to be arrested by Caiaphas’ officers, and He was aware of all the suffering that would begin with His arrest. Jesus even confessed:

My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Matthew 26.38

Those who’ve been wronged know the despair and affliction that strikes the heart at a moment like this. In verse 41, He admits: “…but the flesh is weak.”

In Luke 22.44, we find the pinnacle of His suffering:

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Three times, He prayed, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup from Me; nevertheless not My will, BUT YOURS, BE DONE.”

He overcame when He said: BUT YOURS, BE DONE!

It was not easy, but He decided to do the will of the Father, and that’s when He overcame.

Here are just three moments where our Lord Jesus effectively uses the Faith that defends and maintains our relationship with God, and consequently our Salvation!

Let’s follow His glorious example, because our life here in this world is a constant war, and we will either be defeated by it or overcome it. Conquests become ties of death when we do not know how to defend the most important thing that exists: Salvation!
