A Star of Abraham

Imagem de capa - A Star of Abraham

To rescue his nephew Lot, Abraham had to defeat four nations that had defeated five other nations.

This is, Abraham defeated nine nations at one time with only 318 men.

I can imagine the quality of these servants.

However, the glory of such victory was not because of his audacity and bravery, but because he trusted in the promise:

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you… Genesis 12.3

His victory was so great that even he was startled.

So much so, that he feared his fame would provoke the revolt in other nations and they would come together to persecute him.

But the Lord came to him and encouraged him, saying:

Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Abraham charged:

Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is the Eliezer of Damascus?

The Lord came to him, saying, ‘This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.’

Then, He brought him outside of the tent and said:

Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’ Genesis 15.1-5

Each star symbolized a descendant of Abraham.

He could not count the stars, just like he would not be able to count the number of his descendants.

Those who live in the faith of Abraham are one of these stars.

Each star has the promise of God, under the oath of the promises made to Abraham.

By legal right, all of his inheritance belongs to his “stars.”

Are you a star of Abraham?
