The heart of death
I remember a young woman from South Africa who, after being delivered, became an assistant and, as a servant of God, rejected her ex-husband, who was a womaniser and bad character.
However, after being advised by many other assistants, she forgave her husband and accepted him back. Shortly after, she found out that she had been infected with HIV. Three months later, she died. Her husband did not convert and is still spreading the deadly virus.
Who killed her? Was it HIV, the husband, or the other assistants’ emotional faith?
The Holy Spirit warns us, saying:
“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded life and peace.” (Romans 8.6)
The Word of God is glorious. The practical information it gives not only leads to eternal life, but it also gives hints of this world’s subliminal evil.
It’s the case of the feelings of the soul. How many people live a hellish life because of a bad marriage? But what’s the reason behind the bad choice?
A deceitful heart!
And it’s not only concerning one’s love life. As a matter of fact, it has to do with all the areas of our life—arts, sports, business partnerships, friendships… Any relationship based on the passions of the heart will always end up in destruction and, many times, in death.
Whilst the flesh, biblically speaking, minds the feelings, passions and emotions of the heart, the spirit minds the wisdom of God.
