Changed Lives
Dear Bishop Macedo,
The Universal Church is causing a quiet revolution here in Colombia.
Our country has always been marked by the power of drug cartels that oppress the people and spill blood on the streets.
But today, as never before, there is a growing number of Colombian pastors. An army of men and women rescued from criminal gangs.
Many have been freed from cocaine addictions and, if not for the work of God, they would have been involved in drug trafficking and occupying positions of high command.
Now they are being sent to the United States, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Spain, to preach the Word of God.
Colombia is exporting men of God instead of drugs through the work of the UCKG!
We no longer export destruction, but what builds and rebuilds, by using the Gospel to lift people out of despair!
I am a living witness of this revolution. Everything happened so fast in my life.
I grew up watching my father beat my mother in drunken fits. At 16 I was addicted to alcohol and had already tried all sorts of drugs, which led me into crime.
I lived with criminals who smuggled drugs into Italy, Mexico and Panama in a variety of ways using “mules”.
These young people would get on flights after swallowing capsules of cocaine and heroin, wrapped in pieces of surgical gloves, in exchange for money or drugs to support their addiction.
Friends were killed in the war between police and cartels, others were imprisoned and I came close to being gunned down. I saw death up close several times.
I was rescued from this hell when I started attending an outreach work of the UCKG in the countryside of Colombia, and was transformed little by little from the inside out.
I gave up on my life of crime, was completely set free, decided to follow the teachings of Jesus, and for 12 years now have been a pastor.
We have hundreds of men of God like me fighting to rescue people from lives of destruction and violence.
During the launch of the book “Nothing to Lose” in Bogota this army of pastors met the Colombian people.
It was a happy event that made the headlines in newspapers and on TV. It was a joy to celebrate this revolution that has changed our lives.
After the release, many people are eager to learn more about the church and the lessons of faith and perseverance of “the Brazilian called Macedo.”
The challenge that the Holy Spirit is placing before us is to use your book to increase even the number of brave troops of Colombian men and women.
An army of people full of gratitude within.
Thank you Bishop Macedo. Thank you Universal Church. Thank you very much Lord God.
