Action of the Holy Spirit

Bishop, how are you?

I put together a short list of verses to show the action of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Lord Jesus while He was in this world. If the Holy Spirit was vital to the Son of God, to the point where Jesus did not dare live without depending on Him, our need to have Him is even greater, right?

Satan’s greatest weapon to delay God’s purposes is to get people to remove their focus from the importance of the Holy Spirit. He knows that we are in the dispensation of the Spirit, so everything that happens in the Church and in the life of a child of God will only happen through the action of the Holy Spirit.

These are the verses:

  • It was the Holy Spirit Who begot Jesus in the womb of Mary. “Do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 1.20)
  • Jesus grew and developed through the action of the Holy Spirit. “And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.” (Luke 2.40)
  • Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.” (Matthew 4.1)
  • Jesus healed the sick through the Holy Spirit. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10.38)
  • It was through the Holy Spirit that Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross. “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9.14)
  • It was through the Spirit that the Lord Jesus was resurrected. “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8.11)
  • Even after the resurrection, the Lord Jesus taught through the Holy Spirit. “Until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen.” (Acts 1.2)
