The definition of conscience is: an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one’s behavior.

Conscience is the silent voice of the soul, which is unable to be heard by anyone else. If someone that is very close to you places their ear against your head, they will not be able to hear it. However, when the voice is witness to a wrong act, it shouts, torments, does not let us sleep and makes our head weigh a ton.

Our Lord Jesus appealed to it when He wanted to save an adulteress woman from death. Before the Pharisees stoned her, Jesus, with His wise words, stoned the conscience of every one of them by saying:

He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone first. […] Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one… John 8.7 and 9

Some people question why the Universal Church preaches about returning our tithe to God. This practice, however, was first made by Abraham thousands of years ago. The Holy Spirit inspired him to pay his tithe by using the voice of his conscience. When he saw the wealth of the remains before him, he was immediately bothered by it and said that 10% of everything that was before his eyes did not belong to him, but to the Lord. No one forced him to do this, but he was sensitive to the Voice of God.

When a person is willing to please God, he becomes sensitive to His Voice, and his conscience is crucial in this process. It becomes an ally of God so He can show whether the person’s actions are correct or incorrect before Him.

The Universal Church has no control of its members when it comes to the month, day and time they receive their income. But the Holy Spirit is responsible to remind those who are sensitive to His Voice not to touch their finances without first returning what belongs to the Lord. This is great proof that this Work belongs to Him.

Those who are converted cannot sleep when they fail to return their tithe to the Lord, because they want to be right with God and with their conscience, because it is a witness of their actions. After all, it is written:

For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience… 2 Corinthians 1.12

My friends, our greatest glory is to be correct before God through our good conscience. Then, we will be ready to face whatever lies ahead:

Having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck. 1 Timothy 1.19

Unfortunately, many are no longer among us because they sunk into the mud of this world again.

May God have mercy on each one of them and of us as well.
