Jamaica is a land that exudes beauty and natural resources, making it a top tourist destination, receiving about one million tourists each year. But, at the same time, the country faces a high rate of unemployment, poverty, violent crimes and drug trafficking. These problems have driven many Jamaicans to leave their beloved land and family to search for better opportunities elsewhere in the world.

However, while many leave the island, the Universal Church brings the Word of Faith that transforms regardless of the circumstances, because there are no limits for God and when faith is put into practice, it opens the most difficult doors.

Recently, the Universal Church held the “U-Can” Event in Jamaica, bringing renewal, healing, deliverance and salvation to the resilient and lively people of the third largest inhabited island in the Caribbean. In the “Land of Wood and Water”, under a scolding heat of 90 degrees Fahrenheit, more than 6,000 people were present at the National Indoor Sports Centre of Jamaica.

The event began at 3pm, but people began arriving as early as 1pm, such was the determination to change their lives. Each person brought a bottle of water, in which was poured a few drops of water from the Jordan River that had been blessed for this day.

Bishop Ubirajara Fonseca began the event by praying for those who were sick, in pain, depressed or experiencing emotional, physical or spiritual problems. After the prayer, the people took a sip of water and many experienced a miracle. Thank God, they came forward to share their testimonies, singing and dancing, because now they were free from the evil that tormented them.

During the event, the Jamaicans learned that God wants to hear our voice, He wants to help solve our problems, but we must come to Him, speak with Him and act our faith. They also learned that every problem has a root, and all those who were present received spiritual deliverance from the evil roots in their lives.

After this spiritual purification, bishops and pastors also prayed for everyone to receive the inner peace that comes God, and understand that despite so many problems and difficulties, through faith nothing is impossible. They CAN and WILL succeed if they put into practice what they learned at the “U-Can” Event and continue to learn at the Universal Church meetings.

Those present felt that solving problems and receiving miracles is not enough, because it is much more important to take care of the salvation of our soul. After listening to a message about salvation, forgiveness and commitment to God, many surrendered their lives to Him and decided to change their ways.

The Universal Church began its work in Jamaica in December 1996, and currently has 24 Churches throughout the country. Pastor Rohan Taylor and his wife Kerry are Jamaicans who returned to the country to dedicate their lives and reach out to their fellow Jamaicans.

The Universal Church continues to grow, opening new Churches and taking the message of salvation and restoration to the minds and hearts of Jamaica.
