How do I purify my soul?
There is a question that is continuously running through the minds of many people: “How do I purify my soul? Is it by fasting, praying for long periods of time or assiduously attending Church meetings? Is it through my commitment to the Work as an assistant: holding the offering bags, handing out envelopes, counseling people and casting out demons? Is it by doing the Work as a pastor, bishop or wife, taking care of a region, state or country?”
Each of these things has its importance in the world of faith that we live in, but none of them compare with obeying the Word of God. Peter says:
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth… 1 Peter 1.22
Our soul is only purified when we repent of our sins and start walking in OBEDIENCE to the Truth, which is the Word of God.
We should see as God sees us. For example, everyone says “I love Jesus…”, it can be found in verses and sayings on the bumpers stickers of trucks, but Jesus said:
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me… John 14.21
This is, God sees our love for Him through our SACRIFICE in obeying His Word, not by the words we say during prayer, praise or song.
Everything we have and everything we are – I’m referring to our position, condition, marriage, realized dreams and those to be realized, the car we drive, the house we live in, the clothes we wear, the money we earn, the body that have, etc. – there are only two things that will still be intact in a 1 trillion years: our soul and the Word of God.
It can all be resumed to this: from everything above, our soul is the only thing that will be left. If your soul is in obedience to the Truth (the Word), it will live eternity with God; if it is in disobedience to the Truth, then it will live eternity in the lake of fire and brimstone, the second death.
May God have mercy on us.
