In Spirit…
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a great voice like a trumpet… Revelation 1:10
Only when you are in Spirit do you have the ability to hear the Voice of God and obey.
But what is it to be in Spirit?
Can we be in Spirit when our physical circumstances are favorable? No.
Can we be in Spirit when our flesh savors the pleasures of the world? No.
How, then, can we be in Spirit?
1st – When our mind meditates on the Word of God or when our thoughts submit to the thoughts of the Most High.
2nd – When our meditation of the Word forces us to let go of the sights and sounds of the things of this world. When we are deaf and blind to everything that’s happening around us. When we abstain from the internet, TV, movies, secular literature and any form of entertainment that distracts our minds from the Spirit.
It’s certainly difficult, just like the Salvation of our souls is difficult.
The Lord Jesus said:
Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it, because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13,14
The truth is, few people sacrifice the comfort of the wide gate, of the broad, easy way of the kingdom of this world, to guarantee their entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven through the narrow gate. This is also why few receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
But there’s no other way. Those who are willing to pay the price to receive the Holy Spirit have to sacrifice, they have to abstain from the desires of the flesh.
The Fast of Daniel is designed only for those who are thirsty for the Spirit of God.
