In spirit and in truth

Day 18 of the Fast of Daniel

God is spirit.

Because of this, His Son Jesus teaches that He seeks worshipers who worship Him in spirit and in truth.

When He says in spirit, the Lord eliminates any human feelings. This is, He excludes emotions brought on by hymns or instrumental music.

I’m not saying that hymns or Christian songs are evil. But, the truth is, as long as a person is not born of the Spirit, he will not be able to worship in spirit, or in truth. How can he worship in spirit if he does not have the nature of the Holy Spirit?

Unfortunately, most of the time, the believer is so captivated by the emotional appeal of the song that he surrenders to the whims of the heart.

God is spirit. Only those who are born of the Holy Spirit are also spirit. They are no longer a living, emotional or softhearted soul.

Many, during the process of deliverance or new birth, get things of the spirit confused with things that are brought on by emotions. And this is precisely when deceiving spirits create an illusion.

Worship in spirit and in truth involves a person using reason, intellect…

God is spirit. This means He is intelligent and wise. Therefore, how could He accept worship consisting purely of human feelings?

Jesus did so many miracles and gathered large crowds. However, He was not glorified. But when some Greeks came to see Him, He said:

The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. John 12:23

Why wasn’t He glorified before, when He blessed the people? Because He knew the glory from the healed was motivated by miracles, not because He was the Son of God.

The Greeks were different. They were intelligent and wanted to SEE the Son of God.

The same is true among people, in general. They glorify Jesus because of His favors, and not for what He did at Calvary.

Many Christians, despite their sincerity, have not understood that worship based on emotion has no meaning or benefit. Instead, it opens the door for deceiving spirits to enter.

This is precisely what has happened recently. Such phaneroses has led many to true aberrations. Some, who are unwary, go into a “trance” (possessed by demons) and fall to the ground as if they were dead; others, also possessed, walk on their knees claiming to be lions like the Lion of the tribe of Judah.

At a time when the Lord God should be served with the best worship, in spirit and in truth, the devil celebrates receiving the “glory of the flesh.”

Misleading spirits use the bodies of the unwary to “worship” in the flesh (emotion) and in deceit (deception).

Dear reader, be careful not to be deceived.

For the love of our Lord, for His Salvation and in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, never give God something that didn’t cost you anything.

To worship in spirit requires the use of the human spirit for the Spirit of God. Simple, sincere words, full of gratitude, conviction and true love. Words of recognition for everything that He has done for you.

Take advantage of this Sunday and determine, right now, to go to Church with the thirst to worship Him in spirit and in truth.

As you read this message, the Holy Spirit touches you, to reassure that He will help you worship His Son in spirit and in truth.

May you all be blessed in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
