In the Spirit…
Day 9 of the Fast of Daniel
I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a great voice like a trumpet… Revelation 1:10
One can only hear and obey the Voice of God when he is in the Spirit.
So, what does it mean to be in the Spirit?
Is it possible to be in the Spirit when human conditions are favorable? No.
Is it possible to live in the Spirit while the flesh relishes in the pleasures of the world? No.
How, then, is it possible to be in Spirit?
1. When the mind engages in the meditation of the Word of God or when thoughts are submitted to the thoughts of the Most High;
2. When meditating on the Word requires giving up sight and hearing of the things of this world. Remain blind and deaf to everything going on around you. Abstain from the Internet, television, movies, secular literature and any entertainment that distracts the mind from the things of the Spirit.
It is certainly difficult, but so is the Salvation of the soul.
The Lord Jesus says:
Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it, because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14
Indeed, few have sacrificed the comfort of the wide gate, the easy way of the kingdom of this world, to secure their entry into the Kingdom of Heaven through the narrow gate. This is also the reason why few have received the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
However, there isn’t another way around it, anyone who wants to pay the price to receive the Spirit of God must sacrifice, must abstain from the lusts of the flesh.
The Fast of Daniel is only for those who thirst for the Spirit of God.
