Overcoming evil thoughts

Salvation is not easy.

To preserve It, we need to be aware that we were saved, are saved and will be saved – if we remain faithful until the end.

To do so, we must overcome evil thoughts.

When the Lord Jesus speaks about the narrow gate and the difficult way, we have no idea of how difficult salvation truly is. Matthew 7.14

We will only understand the weight of His words when we are faced with temptations, deserts and challenges.

“…But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” I Corinthians 10.13

One of the secrets to maintaining our Salvation is praying in spirit.

This happens immediately after evil thoughts arise.

Immediately, without words, in our mind, and with all of our strength, we should rebuke them.

For example, in your mind, think: “In the Name of Jesus all evil thoughts are tied up!”

Repeat this until you get rid of them.

Thoughts – good or bad – are inevitable.

The good ones (according to the Word of God) should be enjoyed.

The bad, or the ones that are disguised as good, should be banned.

We cannot stop them from coming, but we have the power to rebuke them.

If evil thoughts come and we do not resist them immediately, they gain strength and put our good conscience at risk and, consequently, our Salvation.

And the longer they remain in your mind, the more difficult they are to be repressed.

Therefore, your reaction, through a quick mental prayer, should be immediate.

Add to this your daily prayer at the beginning and the end of the day:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” Matthew 6.9-13
