The pain of being separated from God – Part 1
One of the worst pains that a man can feel is the pain of separation. We can get an idea of such suffering when a mother has her child ripped out of her arms by death.
Now, imagine the pain of a child, who, on account of his parents’ decision to get a divorce, has to live far away from his mother or father, which he loves very much. However, these pains do not compare to the pain of someone who had a communion with God, and no longer has one.
Satan’s biggest pain, which transformed into anger, is not hell or the lake of fire, which were prepared for him; it is the fact that he was cast out of heaven without ever being able to enjoy the friendship and presence of God.
“So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him… Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time,” Revelation 12:9, 12
For this reason, to get back at God, he works tirelessly and in a hurry to take greatest possible number of souls to hell, a place that was prepared for him and his angels.
During the Caravans of Redemption, we have come across people who served God as assistants, pastors, auxiliary pastors, but today they find themselves separated from the Lord Jesus. These people are in a state of torment, anguish, and especially, pain, because they are constantly reminded:
“When His lamp shone upon my head, and when by His light I walked through darkness; just as I was in the days of my prime, when the friendly counsel of God was over my tent…” Job 29.3-4
Therefore, assistants, members, pastors, bishops and wives; as time passes we should all appreciate the immeasurable privilege of enjoying the presence, love and mercy of God in our lives. Because it must be sad, despairing and torturous to live apart from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to live with a void (emptiness) inside. Only those who have fallen away from Him can describe this situation.
And what can we say about the second death? Since the first refers to the separation of the body from the soul, which we must all face one day, the second is the eternal separation of the soul from God.
“Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire,” Revelation 20.14-15
It’s scary just to imagine the pain of people entering hell aware that they are going to be eternally separated from Jesus, Who gave Himself as a Sacrifice, shedding His blood on the cross to save them from this cruel future, and they rejected Him.
God forbid!
“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away,” Hebrews 2.1
God bless you
