The Sanctity of the Offering
Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? Matthew 23.17
When the offering giver goes to the Temple or the Church, is God concerned about his gold or what it represents?
Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the Altar that sanctifies the gift? Matthew 23.19
When the offering giver goes to the Altar, is God concerned with his offering or what it stands for?
What does the Temple represent? The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ;
What does the Altar represent? It represents God Almighty;
What does the gold represent? The gold represents the SOUL of the offering giver dedicated to building up the Church;
What does the offering represent? The offering represents the SOUL of the offering giver dedicated on the Altar.
God is Spirit. So would the Spirit of God (Spirit of the Altar) be pleased with a physical offering? Does the Spirit of God manipulate gold, money or material offerings?
Wouldn’t the SPIRIT OF THE ALTAR be interested in the SOUL of the offering (the soul of the offering giver)?
It is the Spirit of the Temple – the Holy Spirit – that SANCTIFIES THE GOLD;
It is the Spirit of the Altar – the Holy Spirit – that SANCTIFIES THE OFFERING.
Therefore, just as in the Temple/Church the presence of the Holy Spirit consecrates His people, the soul of the offering giver is also in the gold/offering.
The LORD rejects the offering when it has no soul or life, such as the sacrificial offering of Cain.
Our God is a Living God; the Lord Jesus is a Living God; the Holy Spirit is Living.
HOW WOULD HE ACCEPT AN OFFERING WITH NO LIFE OR SOUL?
Would those who do not believe that the Altar symbolizes God have the courage to sacrifice?
Who has the courage to invest in what he does not believe?
When the offering giver sacrifices his soul on the Altar it is because he is convinced that the Altar will give back with His Spirit.
Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? I Corinthians 9.13
