Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him. Matthew 26.14-16

The Lord Jesus taught us that it is not the gold that sanctifies the Altar, but the Altar that sanctifies the gold. The Altar, which is God, sanctifies the gold; this is, nothing is more important than the Altar. Matthew 23.17,19,21

Judas Iscariot looked to the gold (the 30 pieces of silver), completely disregarding the Altar (the Lord Jesus).
This is why he stole, lied, cheated, betrayed and, finally, committed suicide, thus losing his salvation.

I can imagine how many words and messages he heard, since the Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus taught every day.
In addition to the healings, deliverances, multiplications, resurrections and many other signs.
But what good was all this, if his eyes were focused on the gold and not on the Altar?

Don’t think that your soul has been forgotten by the devil.
Since there was (if any) a deliverance from idolatry, witchcraft and all other deceit, so, today, he constantly makes suggestions where the gold seems more valuable than the Altar. And very few turn away from the gold, in favor of the Altar.

Judas had the power to decide and we have this power as well.

We are free to decide what is most important to us, but we will never be free from the consequences of our decision.

A full life and good, when we look to and choose the Altar.
Death and evil, when we look to and choose the gold.
