The Story of Gideon – Part 15

The strategy of trumpets and clay pitchers

Imagem de capa - The Story of Gideon – Part 15

The strategy of trumpets and clay pitchers: (Judges 7:15-18)

Now, without even a shadow of the fear that had taunted him until then, Gideon announces to the three hundred that the time has come. He already has a strategy in place, certainly given by the Holy Spirit Himself, because now that there is no more fear, the Spirit of God is free to act within and through him.

He gives the men trumpets (horns, in other translations) and pitchers with torches in them. Incredibly, he now asks the people to look AT HIM. That is, he takes up his position as God’s representative. He tells the three hundred men to do everything as he did. And, side by side with God, he takes the lead in the battle: “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!” He is no longer anything like the man he had been until moments before.

God does not appear physically to speak to Gideon anymore, and yet Gideon knows what to do. Now, the Spirit of God has a direct connection with Gideon’s thoughts. God’s Spirit and Gideon’s spirit are one. There is no longer a division between the two; there is no tell as to where one ends and the other begins. Gideon’s spirit no longer blocks God’s, as the Holy Spirit flows freely through him. This is what God expects from someone who receives His Spirit.

Continues tomorrow…

Don’t miss it!
