The voice of God
The voice of God is more perceptible during the tough times of life. That’s exactly how it happened to the apostle John, on the island of Patmos. Exiled and subject to hard labour, he had all the reasons to complain about his situation. He even had the right to complain to God and ask to die. But it was amidst these adverse conditions that he listened to the voice of God and received the revelation of the end times.
All his narrative is subject to what he saw and heard under the burning fire he experienced in that place.
He experienced horror on that island of slaves. He saw the horror reserved for those whose names are written in the Book of Death. But his soul was lifted when he saw the new heaven, the new earth, and the Book of Life, where his name was written. He only received that revelation because his body was the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
It’s worth enduring adversities because of our faith. After all, this is what makes the servants of God true overcomers. Overcoming, not to receive the glory of this world, but to receive the glory of being seated on the throne with the Lord of Majesty forever (Revelation 3:21)
