Where’s the Name?
A fellow colleague shared his experience with me about what happened in the beginning of his ministry as a pastor. I found it interesting and decided to share it with you because surely it will serve to help someone:
Bishop, I have seen many who enter the Work of God say that they have a covenant with Him until death and that they can’t live without the altar, etc. However, these same pastors leave as if they had never said such things. They lose sight of their soul winning mission because they’ve stopped looking unto Jesus.
When I entered the Work of God, my pastor sent me to the church headquarters’ to begin being prepared to become a pastor. He said that upon my arrival at the Cathedral I should look for Jesus’ name. So I did. Sometime later, we met up again and he asked me where Jesus’ name was. I said that it was set high on the back wall of the altar. He said, “It’s there so that you’ll always maintain your focus on Him. You’ll see many unpleasant things, but you must always keep your eyes on Jesus”.
I didn’t understand what he meant at the time, but now I do. We must guard our hearts. All those who looked back, did it because they stopped looking unto Jesus, like Peter – and just like Peter, they sank.
