ABOUT THE MADONNA CONCERT AND THE MISFORTUNES IN THE COUNTRY (BRAZIL)

Happy on the outside but broken on the inside. This is the portrait of many nowadays.

I invite you to meditate with me on a passage from the book of the prophet Isaiah. It seems it was written these days and reports the situation of our country (Brazil) and the world in general.

God speaks to the prophet regarding the situation of the people in Jerusalem, the religious centre of Israel, where the Temple was (and Judah was a region of Jerusalem). God says that He will take the livelihood of bread and water from the people, that they would be oppressed and rise against each other. In other words, Jerusalem would not even need external enemies; they would self-destruct. Jerusalem would also be ungovernable and they would point anyone to govern it.

“For Jerusalem stumbled, And Judah is fallen, Because their tongue and their doings Are against the Lord, To provoke the eyes of His glory. The look on their countenance witnesses against them, And they declare their sin as Sodom; They do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves” (Isaiah 3:8-9).

In other words, those people were publicly sinning against God; they did not make a point of hiding their sins and were already wide open against Him. We had a concert in Rio de Janeiro that did this (and with public money). This is not hidden. And the people celebrated while a misfortune ran loose in the south of Brazil.

The face is the mirror of the soul, and we see how many people have to cover their faces with “makeup” with expressions of happiness to hide the darkness in their souls. They are people who are ruined from the inside. And like Sodom (with all that kind of depravity and promiscuity), they harm themselves, as the Word says.

“Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, For they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, For the reward of his hands shall be given him” (Isaiah 3:10-11). In other words, each one will reap what they did (even if it doesn’t happen immediately).

We’ve seen the reason for so many calamities. People are harvesting what they planted. You vote for politicians who promote this depravity. You turn on the television channels that promote this depravity. You have to choose a side. Many people don’t define faith. Sin was the reason for the destruction of Jerusalem at that time, and it’s no different these days. Corruption begins within the people and extends to the rulers.

Tragedy is the culmination of years of disobedience to God. When people face tragedies, they ask themselves, ” Where is God?” Isn’t it interesting that no one wanted to know about God when everything was fine?

We will not fix human beings; we can only fix ourselves. Therefore, everyone should look at themselves and repair themselves. Even if everyone around you is walking as if it were in Sodom and Gomorrah, do what is right because if you join them, the same end of them will be yours. And not even God can free you because you didn’t want Him.
