ANGELS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Psalm 91)

They have God's order to guard those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High; the choice is yours, to be protected or alone in the open field of the most low

Today, I want to talk to you about “angels”. It is a vast topic in the Bible which deserves its own separate study. But as Psalm 91 mentions them, we will address this topic briefly.

“For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11-12).

God will charge His angels concerning those who dwell in the Shelter of the Most High. This is the only passage in the Old Testament that suggests the idea of guardian angels. We see here that angels are like our bodyguards under the order of the Most High. See how deep this word is.

Angels have always been present in the history of humanity. “Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14). Angels are servant spirits to those who will inherit Salvation. Sometimes, the person is still not saved. But God, as He knows the future and knows that the person will be saved, sends His angels to keep them. Do you see how many people have gone through situations where they were supposed to have died? They were spared and didn’t even deserve it; they weren’t saved. But God, already knowing that these people will believe in Him and accept Him, sends the angels to keep them.

Many of our family members are not saved. But because of those who dwell in the Shelter of the Most High, God sends His angels to guard those relatives who will be saved. Because there is the opposite: angels who have been expelled from Heaven and today are demons waging a spiritual war to take people’s souls. So, we are amid this crossfire: angels and demons.

“For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you…” was the verse that Satan quoted in the temptation of the Lord Jesus in the wilderness. Satan had suggested to the Lord Jesus to throw Himself from the pinnacle of the Temple. But Jesus answered: “You shall not tempt the Lord your God” (Deuteronomy 6:16).

This exchange between Satan and the Lord Jesus teaches us something important: it is not because we have angels with us that we will go around risking ourselves. “God will keep me.” No, Jesus didn’t take advantage of that. He showed us that even if we have the angels to guard us, we should not suspend common sense. Sometimes, people provoke us: “If you are a child of God, do it”. But you don’t have to prove anything. Don’t fall for this nonsense.

The second lesson is that the devil uses the Bible against us. He quotes the Bible to deceive us. He took the text out of context with the Lord Jesus. He has not succeeded with the Lord Jesus, but he has succeeded with many believers. A verse alone can say one thing, but in the context, it can say another. Be very careful.

Meditate on this through the video above.
