BACK FROM ISRAEL: A LESSON FOR LIFE
One of the most striking experiences of this missionary trip to Israel was the inauguration of the Tower of Faith in Tel Aviv. What was the greatest lesson we learnt from our church's example of perseverance?
We are back after a very productive visit to Israel, the Holy Land, even during this war period. Thank God the “ceasefire” took effect yesterday. We were in several places and brought many things to share with you in the coming days.
One of the most remarkable things that happened was last Saturday, the inauguration of our headquarters in Israel, in Tel Aviv. With Bishop Macedo and other Bishops on this mission in the Holy Land, we were with immense joy inaugurating this place. In fact, it was not the inauguration of a church but of four. The Strong Tower, which is in Tel Aviv, has four churches in the same place. At the inaugural meeting, we had about 20 different nationalities. They live and work in Israel, making this new place their House of Worship. In a single building, we work in several languages (Hebrew, English, Russian, and Portuguese). Thank God for that. The Church has been in Israel for 24 years, and, at that time, it has already changed its address, in Tel Aviv, more than seven times because the place was rented.
And what is the lesson we learnt from this? We have witnessed this development of the Work of God in Israel over these years. We have been following the fight, in the work that is there. And we see that, at the beginning of everything, many told us: “You are crazy! Why are you going to open a church in Israel? A land of Jews, Muslims, Arabs, and people from all over the world. What do you expect to achieve?” But we do the work in the whole world in obedience to the mission of the Lord Jesus because it was He who said: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). And there, it’s not just any nation, it’s a nation where biblical stories happened. We are working shedding blood, sweat and tears that the work continues there.
The lesson we learnt from this great victory of the inauguration of the Tower of Faith is that God honours perseverance. As the psalm says: “When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad Bring back our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalms 126:1-3). This psalm speaks of confident perseverance in God’s promise. Those who persevere in the Word can cry while sowing, but it is certain that, sooner or later, they will return, reaping the fruit of what they sowed.
And it has been so in the work of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Brazil and the world, which has sown with tears in the face of many persecutions, oppositions, betrayals, and envy. If we were to tell you all the obstacles in this work of carrying the Word of God (because many people think it is easy)… God has been faithful in His promise and has honoured this work. Because we have been working without looking at anyone.
I want to share with you that people don’t want the right way; they want the easiest way. The right way is: “Those who sow with tears
