CLEANING THE MIND: 3 TIPS
We live in a modern society in several aspects, but you have already realised that it affects your life, thoughts, eyes, everything! How often have you wanted to clear your mind of what you heard and saw? I have 3 tips for this.
Someone asked: “How can I clear my mind of bad thoughts? It’s racing, with a lot of bad thoughts.” There’s a way, and I’ll give you some tips.
First: we understand that, nowadays, people are living with this problem of the dirty, racing mind. Because we are living in an age of so much information that there is no precedent for what the human being is currently exposed to. Let’s say that 25 years ago, we didn’t have this explosion of information we have today: social media, multiple channels, and fast internet. Our parents, grandparents didn’t have that. Life was much simpler (in the sense of information).
Therefore, it is very easy for your brain to panic, race, and not know what to do in the face of so much information. And when the brain does not know what to do, it can react in several ways: depression, anxiety, etc.
There has never been so many desirable things placed before us as today. And that causes anxiety. You have infinite scrolling screens. If you don’t watch, you stay for hours, scrolling your finger through the night. They created the infinite scroll because what is written is being fulfilled: the eyes do not satisfy (Proverbs 27:20). So, they provide endless content and the more they provide, the more people consume. And only in a few years will we understand the impact of all this on the human mind, especially concerning children and young people.
If the TV series did any good, most of what you find will fill your head with rubbish, depression, and hopelessness. Because the images, the messages, are the worst possible. And the person gets filled with that. What will the brain produce with so much rotten raw material?
And what do I do with a dirty or overloaded mind?
If you want to clear your mind, the first thing you should do is stop staining it. Stop bringing more rubbish into it. Watch what you consume on social media, the websites you browse, the music you listen to, the news you follow, and the books you read. Everything you bring to your eyes and ears, that will touch you.
The second tip is: who are you around? People used to say: “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas”. If you like a friend who lives a life you no longer want, naturally, you will have to distance yourself from them. Clean up your social media, the channels you have subscribed to, the emails you have subscribed to, and the notifications disturbing you.
As a bonus tip: if you want to be clean, you must bring to you what is clean. And there is nothing purer than the Word of God. Consume what comes directly from the throne of God. The contents of the Word of God will do this cleansing. Do this consistently, and your mind will be clear. And you will see how different your life will be.
