CRAZY: 1 CENT COSTS 3! What are you doing that doesn’t make sense?
Have you ever stopped to wonder why you do certain things? Watch this video and learn how to make efficient decisions according to God's will!
In 1793, 232 years ago, the United States began producing the one-cent dollar coin, the famous Penny. Since then, this currency which is the oldest in the country has been in circulation.
However, when the new government took office recently, a government efficiency department was created to identify unnecessary spending. It was then found that the cost to produce a penny is three cents, that is, three times higher than its value. Think with me: It makes no sense to pay to produce a coin more than it is worth.
This example illustrating an interesting fact that is also repeated in companies, families and the lives of individuals: we continue to do things because they have always been done without questioning their reasons.
Who carries a penny? When people receive this change, they usually put it in their wallet or a pot at home and never use it again. But no one asks, “Why are we doing this?”
That is, this situation illustrates a classic and common mistake of human beings: to stop questioning the things they have always done. The Bible gives us an example of this.
Chapter 1 of the book of the prophet Haggai says: “Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” Thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways!” Haggai 1:5-7
The country was experiencing an economic crisis. People worked hard but did not see the fruits of their labour. Then, the prophet, instructed by the Lord of Hosts, asked them to consider their ways.
That is, look at where you are coming from and what you have been doing and see if you are bringing the desired result. See if what you did back there may have worked, if it’s still working and if it makes sense today. If circumstances have changed, you also need to change. Change not in terms of principles but in terms of intelligence; stop doing what is no longer working. Because stopping and considering your ways requires time and for you to stop living on autopilot. You must analyse: “Why do I spend time doing this?”.
As in the example of the USA, something that has been done for 232 years and has ceased to make sense for many decades, but no one stopped to change this, also many often follow a course in their life that makes no sense, but they continue doing it. And if someone asks why they do it, they will probably answer: “Oh, because it’s always been like that”, “because my parents always did it like that”, “because everyone does it like that”. These answers are not intelligent.
That’s why God tells us to consider our ways. The biggest changes I had to make in my life were the results of examinations like this. To look at my ways and see that what I was doing was not working.
Each one needs to do this analysis.
If you understand this message, there is still time for you to change, but you will have to make some drastic changes in your life. Maybe install an efficiency department in your life and start removing things that are no longer working. I believe this would be a magnificent experience for anyone who dares to do it.
