DID YOU GIVE YOUR STRENGTH TO SOMEONE?
Have you ever given your strength to someone, and it went wrong? However, there is only one who, if you trust in His strength, will strengthen and help you instead of destroying you or disposing of you like trash.
Why shouldn’t you give your strength to anyone? Deliver your strength to another person (or people).
Thus says, in Proverbs 31, verse 3: “Do not give your strength to women (…)”.
And before you, woman, feel something (“you’re talking about the woman and such…”), who gave this advice was a woman, it was the mother of King Lemuel, who said to him: “Do not give your strength to women”. This was the woman who spoke about the “virtuous woman” (Proverbs 31:10), who, although virtuous, if you give her your strength, you will become a pet on her fingers.
Of course, when you look at all Holy Scripture, you will understand that this is not just about the man concerning the woman. The woman giving her strength to the man is also just as harmful. But there is an exception in the matter of the man who gives his strength to the woman.
Let’s understand what it means in this biblical sense. “Give strength to someone” means you subject your life to someone’s will. This person becomes like your “god”, your guide, your master, so to speak. What they want, what they demand is the law for you.
It also means making someone your reason to live. Without that person, you no longer have a reason to be…
Sometimes, you see news of people who, when they lose a relative or a loved one, kill themselves; they no longer have a reason to live.
There was a case in the United States of a millionaire. When the earthquake happened in Turkey recently, she lost her husband and children. When she received the news, she simply couldn’t stand it. According to reports, she ran literally into the living room of her house from her flat and jumped. She committed suicide. She didn’t want to live anymore because she had lost her reason for living.
We can also say that “giving someone strength” makes that person the focus of your life. Everything is about him, about her. We see this a lot in the world of fans and idols. There are fans that the idol (whether a singer, an artist, a performer, a group, an actor, or a sportsperson) becomes the focus of these people’s lives. As we saw recently, a fan put on an adult diaper to stay in the queue to watch the concert of a famous singer who came to Brazil.
So, we see this happening to the human being. But why does this happen? Because God created man already predisposed to worship.
Man has an inclination to worship. This was placed in the man’s heart so that the man may desire to seek something or someone greater than him. And, in this search, find the Only one worthy of this worship, the Creator Himself. It was God who put this inside us. He is the only one worthy to fit healthily into this inclination.
When the human being does not fulfil this need to worship with his relationship with God, he puts someone else or something in that place.
God gave The first commandment on Mount Sinai when Moses received the Tablets of the Law, the Ten Commandments: “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
God said that because He knew humans are inclined to worship things and people.
Thus, this other person will steal the strength of this worshiper. Did you understand? So, there are many people out there moaning, suffering, crying from emotional suffering for putting someone in God’s place.
There are some men who, before surrendering their strength to women, were like a lion. But now they’ve become like a little mouse. I remember a businessman who fell in love with a call girl. He told her, “I’m going to get you out of this life.” That’s a real story. So she moved to his house. She took everything away from him. Finally, she left him and returned to that situation. This man couldn’t work anymore; his company was going bankrupt.
And many women surrender their strength to men. Some people cling to a politician as if they were a saviour. Some adhere to an ideology.
So be careful! Because, perhaps, you have given your strength to something or someone.
Some people say they believe in God, but these are empty words because their true god is something or someone.
God is the only one who won’t take advantage of us. And it is the only one that can fit this desire, giving us more strength.
Because God is so pure, powerful, and loving, guess what happens when you hand over your strength to Him? You become stronger.
