DO YOU KNOW GOD’S FAMILY?

God's family begins with one person, who could be you. Ask Him to be an example and transform your family into a true family of God.

The apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, talks about God’s family in the book of Ephesians:

“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” (Ephesians 2:19)

This is the family of those who, by faith in the Lord Jesus, were reconciled and united by the cross. Previously separated, they are now brought back home. The power of the cross is the only one capable of definitively uniting those who were previously enemies or rivals. This power transcends borders, cultures, languages and religions.

When people understand the meaning of the cross, they begin to know the Heavenly Father. And when we know our Creator, we see our neighbour as a brother, becoming part of God’s family. Thus, the divisions and differences that society emphasises so much disappear: white or black, rich or poor, man or woman.

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace.” (Ephesians 2:13-15)

The cross brings together those who are distant and knocks down the walls of separation. Religion is the result of human effort, not of God. He did not create religion, but the human being in His image and likeness, leaving them His Word. God is Word, intelligence and authority. Thus, He gave His Word to those who wish to know Him and live in alliance with Him, becoming part of His family.

Religions often divide people instead of uniting them. Everyone would be part of the divine family if they sought to know God as Father and followed His will instead of clinging to human doctrines. As it is written:

“And that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” (Ephesians 2:16)

Jesus, on the cross, destroyed enmities. Thus, those who understand Christ’s sacrifice are inserted into God’s family. When we look at the cross, divisions, barriers, and differences fall to the ground. Those who live by the message of the cross find their home in God.

How do you feel when you’re at home with your family? Comfortable and at peace. Now, imagine being at home with God! This means absolute peace. Of course, as in any family, there will be challenges and differences, but just as in the earthly family, the father has the final decision; in the family of God, it is also like that.

What is the lesson of all this? If you want to be a person of God, you should value your family because it is a reflection of the Kingdom of God on Earth. Reviewing your family relationships is essential to understanding God better.

How have you treated your father, mother, brothers, children, and spouse? If you want to be closer to God, get rid of grudges and resentments, and ask God for a clean heart. Be an example inside your home, regardless of how others treat you. Treat them as God determines and become the reflection of Him inside your home. In this way, you will be part of God’s family, and soon your family will also be reached by Him.
