EVIL THOUGHT: WHERE DO THEY COME FROM, HOW DO YOU NEUTRALISE THEM
Have you ever noticed that evil thoughts come up unexpectedly? But there is a way to neutralise them and put order in your life and heart.
Maybe you just got up, are driving or organising the dishes in the kitchen and suddenly an evil thought comes. And you think, “Is all this inside my mind?”
“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness” (Mark 7:21-22).
In other words, evil thoughts come out of the heart. Of course, you may be influenced by something external (such as something you watch or hear). But bad influences only move us because it already has a trait inside us. So, within us, without wanting that, comes the thought.
“Do you mean I’m my own enemy?” Exactly. The heart is emotive; it is an uncontrolled subject to everything we see, feel, eat, hear, and by those around us. You sleep with the enemy. It’s on your chest. It’s your heart.
And what is God’s guidance so that you don’t surrender to evil thoughts? According to the Word of God, the heart needs to be dominated by your mind. So, the famous saying “follow your heart” is one of the worst advice people can receive. Imagine following something out of control. Your heart has to follow your mind. You have to put your heart in total submission to it.
Then you can ask: “How can my mind be stronger than my heart?” You must strengthen your spirit by connecting it to the Spirit of God.
There is a hierarchy. We have to seek the mind of Christ (and your mind must be subject to It). God’s thoughts are higher than ours. If you subject your mind to the Spirit of God, it can control the heart. This way, you will no longer be a victim of evil thoughts. You can’t prevent evil thoughts from coming, but you’ll be able to control them. You can say: “I don’t want these thoughts. Go away.” And you will give your mind what you really want to think. You need to organise your life in this hierarchy.
The heart knows no limits. It’s inconsequential. What it thinks, it does. It is tough to live with a person who is dominated by the heart.
Think about it, dominate your heart and watch the entire message in the video above.
