FINDING YOUR LIFE PURPOSE
I believe you have already asked existential questions. I have the answer for you! "...for I know where I came from and where I am going..." (John 8:14)
Who has never asked themselves existential questions? “Why am I here?” “Where did I come from?” “Where are we going?” “What is death?” “What happens after death?”
These are some of the existential questions that every human being asks. Unfortunately, most do not go deeper to seek a true answer but end up accepting ready-made answers without questioning what they embraced.
So, unfortunately, many people live without a purpose. Because when you don’t know where you come from and where you’re going, you are like a wanderer (which is an excellent example for you to understand what a purposeless life is).
A wanderer doesn’t have a home. So, they don’t have a destination or a starting point. Today, they are here, and tomorrow, they will be somewhere else. They’re aimless. All they do is move around. And those who know them wonder: “What is the story behind this behaviour? This is not normal.” But that’s precisely how most of humanity lives. They are spiritual wanderers.
The Lord Jesus said: “[…] for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going” (John 8:14).
He came from the Father, He came from Heaven, and He was the Bread that came down from Heaven to satisfy the spiritual hunger of humanity. He had focus and direction. He knew He would go back to His Father. From His birth to the day of the cross, He had a purpose, which was fulfilled. He returned to the right side of the Father, having fulfilled His mission on earth.
“Where did we come from?” The answer is in front of us, but people keep looking for an explanation for the obvious. Scientists, even those who do not have faith, agree that the chances of something happening in nature for the human being to come into existence would be practically null. There would be nothing if it were not for an intelligent mind behind it.
Therefore, the Lord Jesus said that He came from the Father. He came to introduce us to the Father. When people know they have a Creator, they know He has already determined a destiny – we may turn to Him. After all, what does the father want but to have contact with his child (as long as he takes them in his lap, at birth until the end)? Likewise, God wants to have us with Him for all eternity. He created us to be like Him (eternal).
So, when death comes, those who believed in the Lord Jesus, in the proposal of Salvation from God, will be with Him forever.
There is a verse that summarises all this: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
