How can you win if part of you isn’t fighting?
If you’re reading this, you have a body. If you understand what you’re reading, you have a brain. If you have some kind of emotional reaction at the end, you have a soul. If you’re alive, you have a spirit.
Yes, humans are much more than just skin and bones. We are a combination of body, soul, spirit, and mind.
Soul: our personality
Spirit: the breath of life, given by God, which unites our body and soul
Mind: our capacity to absorb information and to reason
Health sustains the body. Emotions sustain the soul. Faith sustains the spirit. Our intellect sustains our mind.
Health. Love. Faith. Intelligence. Sounds like a complete person, right?
That’s why many don’t succeed in life. A part of them hasn’t entered the fight. And how can you win if a part of you isn’t fighting?
Success and failure depend on the participation of these four parts of you.
The problem is that most people don’t put everything into the fight. People understand that they need to care for their bodies and do physical work. Yet few engage their minds in order to educate and develop their intellect. Even fewer know how to dominate their emotions. Almost nobody knows how to use their faith.
When we don’t use a part of ourselves, it will automatically become a burden on the others. In other words, the other three will have to compensate for the one that isn’t doing its part. Remember that saying, “When the head doesn’t think, the body pays.” Well, your father was right.
If you want to win your wars, defeat your enemies and live a full life, all you need to do is involve and develop every part of you.
How?
I will speak more about this on Sunday at Vila Mariana, São Paulo, at 9:30am. If you come, bring all of yourself, please.
