HOW DOES THE NEWS WORK BEHIND THE SCENES (PART 1)

A tale never loses in the telling. Be careful with the news you put in your mind; it may not have a reliable source.

“How the news works.” If you understand what you will learn today, you will never be manipulated or deceived again.

We grew up and live in a society that values the news, which reaches us through various means of communication (television, radio, newspaper, website, social media, blogs, and what is not lacking is people giving news). So, you should know a few things about how the news works behind the scenes.

When news comes to you, the first question you must ask yourself is: “Who is reporting (the source)?” The vehicle sometimes only repeats the source. What also exists the most are lazy journalists who take the news from a source and quickly replicate it on the website without verification because they only look for the clicks. Those days when journalists went after the facts, listened to both sides and went deeper are left behind. If you have to apologise later, it’s okay (they add a line with the reference “We were wrong”).

People usually think that news is news, but not all news is born the same. Human beings are biased, and there are several ways to say the same thing.

For example, say you are a mother or father, and your daughter says, “I’m pregnant.” How would you tell others this news? Perhaps, as follows: “Unfortunately, my daughter went out to have fun, and a rascal took advantage of her.” The enemy of your daughter at school will spread the news in another way: “She seduced my boyfriend, and he fell for her.” It all depends on who is giving the news.

“A tale never loses in the telling.”

In the Bible, we see it. Jesus was called before Pilate.

“Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?” (John 18:33-34).

The news that reached Pilate was that Jesus was setting up a rebellion against Rome. Jesus meant: “Are you talking about what you think or what others have told you?”

People sometimes repeat what others have said. So, always ask yourself, “From who does this news come from?” And please don’t be a fool.
