Referring to the fictional story of Superman, who has all the powers on Earth but becomes a “wimp” when in contact with kryptonite, so is the doubt for the human being: a kryptonite.

Doubt weakens you in the face of the battles of life, in the face of the forces of evil, in the face of evil people, challenges, and difficulties; doubt paralyses you, divides your forces, and makes you give up. There is no benefit in doubt except when you learn to doubt it and use the poison of doubt against itself, as we do with snake poison.

Human beings are sensitive to doubts because of sin, which originated in the Garden of Eden, as well as fear and all the bad feelings resulting from sin.

The first time the word fear appears in the Bible was after man sinned. The text says that when Adam and Eve realised they had disobeyed God, they were afraid and hid, like a child afraid of their father after disobeying.

So, doubts are in our blood, so how can we neutralise them?

The antidote to doubt is faith in the Word of God.

“…Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith” Romans 11:20

The apostle Paul distinguishes two groups of people: those whose unbelief has spiritually broken them, that is, separated them from God by their unbelief, and those who remain firm simply because of faith in the Word of God, of the certainty that God will fulfil His Word. This is the so-called supernatural faith.

When you put faith in the Word of God, your doubts evaporate; they no longer have a reason to be; you do not need to pay attention to what the thoughts of doubts say to you because they do not deserve any credit. So, you turn off your mind and thoughts from doubts and focus on what is written. In other words, faith is a choice; we live by faith because we choose to believe in the Word of God.

Both faith and doubt are choices. They are in your hands. God cannot do anything in your life if you do not believe, and the devil cannot do anything in your life if you do not doubt the Word of God. The choice is yours.

Do you always want to stand firm in the face of your problems? It’s only by faith in the Word of God. He doesn’t lie. This certainty of faith makes us stand up and neutralise the doubts that will continue to come, but you do not need to credit them. That’s how we overcome the doubts.
