I’M TIRED OF BEING GOOD! NOW I’M GOING TO…
There comes a time when tiredness hits, and you want to throw everything up in the air, right? But is this the best choice? Before making any decision, check this out!
Pay close attention, you, who feel emotional, spiritual or moral tiredness, perhaps tiredness while doing good. Who says, ‘I’m tired of being the good guy’, ‘I’m tired of being the nice person’, ‘now, I’m going to be a villain, I’m going to go all out’, ‘since doing good didn’t take me anywhere, so I’m going to try doing evil’. Pay close attention because none of us is free from it.
Spiritual fatigue can hit anyone at any time. Therefore, it is necessary to be alert to the Word of God. Because, as much as the emotion of spiritual fatigue may tell you otherwise, your reason says that if you start doing evil, you will pay a high price in the future.
The Word of God warns us by saying:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good…” (Galatians 6:9).
So, why would someone get tired of doing good? Let’s go to some reasons:
First, we don’t always see the result immediately when we do good. On the contrary, sometimes, we are misunderstood and lose opportunities. Because in a world where people seek cleverness, where culture is that of taking advantage of others, and everyone wants to take advantage of each other, when you seek to do what is right, do good, you can even miss opportunities, have closed doors (…) Often, people are isolated, massacred, and crucified by the majority who choose to do evil.
It is possible for you to get tired if, for a moment, you forget that you are doing good because it is right and out of fear of God. Not to please people, participate in some competition and win votes. And, you must remember: ‘I do good because it is right, because this is my principle, because I am this person who seeks to walk in justice and, as far as it depends on me, I will do what is right out of fear of God, out of faithfulness to Him above all and to who I am’.
Another reason is that when we look at those who do evil, we can observe that, apparently, these people get along well. You look at those who don’t do good, live in cleverness, error, injustice, making scams, deceiving, lying, cheating (…) The Bible talks about how much it is a stumbling block to look at the apparent success of the wicked and their apparent well-being (Psalms 73:2-3). This is a stumbling block for those who do good and those who are good.
Therefore, the Word instructs us that this is madness. You should not look at or envy the success of those who are having it for having done good, much less those who are succeeding in doing evil. Be careful with social media, who you follow, and who you look at because where we look at is where we will go. Don’t forget!
Therefore, all your good years will count for nothing if you did evil on the last day. God forgives as well as those who did evil all their lives but repented in the end. So, the Word (Ezekiel 18:21-24) teaches that what matters is today. The good I did yesterday is already gone. I have to do good now, every day, all the time.
