In your partner’s shadow
In marriage, you sometimes find that one outshines the other; however, it is never acceptable to purposely live in the shadow of your spouse. (Not having a voice or identity of your own). When you belittle your spouse – or even yourself, the relationship becomes unbalanced. The belittled person feels ignored, inferior and of no importance. The one who stands out most will eventually lose interest in his partner – who insists on living in his shadow, and may even direct his attention towards somebody else, somebody outside of the marriage, who is of more interest to him.
Intelligent couples shield their marriage against this possibility. They shine together, share in the success of one another and invest in each other. You can have such a marriage. You just have to learn how to build it, firstly by stepping out of your partner’s shadow.
