John 7: If we can’t stay in Judea, let’s go to Galilee

In this Chapter, you probably noticed that Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe in Him; the people were still very divided about Him, if He was the Messiah or just some nut job; who in the last chapter said that He was the Bread of life, and now claimed He was living water, the Holy Spirit, to those who believe in Him; all the while, the religious leaders grow angrier.
But these are not the points I want to focus on.
Something that called my attention was how the Lord Jesus dealt with the death threat in Chapter 5. Remember, He healed a man on Saturday and for this He was accused of disobeying the Law of Moses. That’s why Chapter 7 already begins saying:
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
Observe how despite the threat, and the fact that He couldn’t freely walk in Judea, Jesus didn’t hide in Nazareth, neither did He lock Himself in a room because of fear or depression. “He began to walk in Galilee,” and continued doing His work where He could, how He could, and for those who accepted it.
When we can’t do what we want where we want, we should do what we can, the way we can, and where we can.
You may have also noticed how He mentions, three times in this chapter, that the hour had not come yet, in other words, Jesus knew everything had its time.
So, if it wasn’t the time for one thing, it was the time for another – but there was never a time to do nothing.
We need this discernment. We must learn to do what the hour permits, as we wait for what we can only do later.
In your life, it’s time to do what right there, right now, with what you have? If you can’t do what you would like to be doing, what CAN you do?
