Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.

Psalm 91:14

Continuing the study of Psalm 91, we see that here, God uses an expression of deep love and affection. Reflecting on this, we realise that God’s love does not simply express feeling but loyalty and faithfulness, even without any feeling. That’s true love.

When the Bible refers to love, especially the love of the Most High, it is not a cheap feeling like popular songs. It is about loyalty, something far above what you feel. It is the honour of one’s word; even if the other does something wrong, you do what is right. This is God’s attitude to the human being.

That’s why Jesus says to love God above all, with all strength, and then love your neighbour (Luke 10:27). Knowing Him intimately, you will know the Author of love, know what true love is, and give love to others.
