PLANS AND FOCUS: UNTIL YOU TAKE ONE ON THE CHIN
Understand the importance of having a goal in your life because plans change and get frustrating, but you can't give up on a worthy goal because it will always keep you standing until the end.
Your focus needs to be specific and clear. The plans, whenever possible, have them, but be prepared to give them up.
Let me explain: Many people get frustrated because their plans do not go as expected. There is a particular desire in us to project. And this comes from God, who knows the present, past and future. Who projects and already knows everything.
Prophecies are plans, things that God has already determined. The difference is that He is God. What He plans doesn’t change, whether you like it or not. No one will be able to prevent God’s immutable plans. No one can say: “I’m going to ruin God’s plans”. Even Satan thinks that sometimes he can stop God’s plans and, when he least expects it, he is contributing to God’s plans.
Sometimes, our dreams and projects can be fulfilled (but sometimes not). But what happens is that when our plans do not come true the way we wanted, the human being tends to be sad, and there is a loss of will to fight. So, many parents are frustrated with their children; many children are frustrated with their parents. People think: “At such an age, I will get married, and at such an age, I will have that”. Days pass, and they get angry, anxious, sad, and discouraged about life.
So, there are people with depression who are taking medicine because their plans did not come true. They don’t understand the difference between “plan” and “focus”. “Plans” are shapeable. One of the greatest boxers of all time, Mike Tyson, once said: “Everyone has a plan until they get one on their chin”. He was referring to when he and others entered the ring and had a fight plan, but everything went down when they took it on their chin. That’s life. You take it on the chin and ask yourself: “Now what?” And now it’s time to try to stand up. Otherwise, you take one on your chin and get knocked out.
Life prepares us with surprises, so focus is essential (this is more important than having plans because the focus cannot change).
For example: you are aware of the Salvation of your soul. What does your focus have to be? It doesn’t have to be buying a new car or “I want to marry that person, and it cannot be anyone else”. Your focus has to be Heaven, above all.
Paul spoke a very well-known text, but many people do not understand what he explained: “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12).”… I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
“Not that I have already attained.” He recognised the imperfections but still didn’t attain what he wanted. “I press toward the goal” (focus). He spoke of the goal as “Salvation”, “reach Heaven”.
If you analyse Paul’s life in the Scriptures, you will see that some of his plans were not fulfilled, but he did not forget the goal. And most importantly: he remained in God’s plan. Because he had focus. On the way, he had enemies, distractions, and many things to divert him, but he did not lose focus.
If you are focused on God, what you do today will be influenced by this goal. What I do today has to take me closer to this goal and not far away. Plans change. They often get in our way and makes us stuck. No matter how often your plan fails, you will have strength if you have a goal.
Does that mean you won’t have any plans? Have them, but don’t get “married” with your plans. Have plans, but remember the goal if you get punched in the face. Press toward the goal.
