Same rights, different strengths

Imagem de capa - Same rights, different strengths

TITITI* – What do you think about the Women’s Rights Movement?

Cristiane – We take advantage of it. I can be here and do what I do because of it. But there’s a side to it that I don’t like: the idea of equal rights for women is very good, but what we see now is that women have lost their essence. Women are more emotional, sensitive and attentive to detail. Men are more rational and straightforward. And that’s a good thing! For instance, when I’m thinking about many things, feeling desperate, Renato helps me calm down. But sometimes he doesn’t see what I see. This is being lost with this movement. It seems a bit radical, extreme. I don’t think it’s nice to be aggressive, to belittle men… but equal rights are correct and fair. Women work just as hard as men and must have the same rights.

Renato – Historically, society works like a pendulum. We lived through a period of extreme male chauvinism, patriarchy… and that created an opposite. This happens in every part of society; when you have too much of one thing, you create a gap for something else. Eventually, things will return to balance.
