The Happiest Nation
And all nations will call you blessed… Malachi 3:12
These words are very strong. But I like the translation in another Bible version even better. You’ll be voted “Happiest Nation.” – The message
This was God’s desire for the nation of Israel. Unfortunately, they didn’t want to follow Him. Yet God’s desire never changed. If any nation turns to Him, surely they would benefit from this promise.
All the while, as nations use up all their energy on worrying about their plans and means, (which never seem to work out) and they chase the wind, you and I have the above promise for our lives.
After all, “you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…” 1 Peter 2:9 Yes you are a nation in the eyes of God. And what kind of nation are you? If there was a way you could measure happiness, and there was a poll in your social circle (amongst all your family, friends and colleagues) who, between all of you, would be voted “happiest person?”
If it were up to God you would take the prize. This is God’s desire for you: to have the happiest marriage, be professionally at the top of your game, be health in person, be the envy of your enemies…
But perhaps this isn’t happening to you. Who knows, perhaps what you’re looking at is quite the opposite. But why?
The only answer can be:
1. You are not following the previous verses up to number 12 in Malachi 3, (what about giving it a read?)
2. You have been doing your part, but it’s something mechanical and not with faith.
3. God was just messing around when He made this promise.
If you say you believe in God but you’re not happy, it’s time to re-evaluate your belief.
