THE INHERITANCE THAT IMPOVERISHES
You have two options in your life: bury your past or your future. God allows you to sever the tie with your past and make everything new. The decision is yours!
The Word of God says that we need to be ”knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,“ (1 Peter 1:18).
Pay attention: all of us -whether you like it or not – inherit corruptible things, mannerisms, characteristics from our parents. And here, I include not only biological parents. There are those whose biological parents did not raise them, but this does not change the fact that there is a DNA which connects us to our parents.
Our way of living makes us slaves. This shows that we are in danger (because only those who are hostage are rescued). Naturally, the Word deals with parents who did not know God and, therefore, were also slaves of their parents. This is how humanity lives: inheriting the mistakes of their parents.
Someone commented in a video where I said parents sometimes leave bad inheritances that their children simply continue, and it is as if they were paying for their parents’ mistakes and sins. Sometimes, people don’t understand why this happens. And the person, in the comment of the video, said that they go through this kind of situation.
I replied to them that the truth is that we all inherit the curses of sin. Sin destroys human life. Sin means “disobedience to God”. Human beings say “no” to God’s advice and “yes” to what they want to do. And sin generates curses. And they don’t end with the birth of a child. In theory, yes. You take the baby on your lap and think: “A blank page”. But no. No one arrives like a blank page; we inherit the way of living and the consequences of our parents’ sins. The son is going to bear that.
And what solution does God bring for this injustice to be repaired? He uses the expression “to be born again” in His Word. Then, we start our story over. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ. We sever our parents’ umbilical cord, and we have a new umbilical cord with our Heavenly Father. He frees us from the consequences of sins, and everything depends on our obedience to Him. You break the chains of evil that passed from generation to generation.
You can say that it is unfair for us to continue the mistakes of our parents, but God is just and gives us the opportunity to be born again. You have to embrace that. Otherwise, you will continue to reap the consequences of your parents’ mistakes.
Reflect on the subject and watch the video above.
