THE TIME OF THE PROMISE: YOU NEED TO KNOW IT

Do not allow anxiety and haste to achieve results, spoil the promise God has prepared for you. Trust me!

The Bible says there is a time for the promise to be fulfilled. Read: “But when the time of the promise drew near which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt.” Acts 7:17

God promised Abraham that his descendants would multiply and that he would take possession of Canaan. But Abraham did not take possession of any land, not even the size of a foot, says the Word. God did not fail Abraham because this promise was for his descendants. And he knew there was a time for the promise to be fulfilled.

However, he is also an example of hastiness because when the fulfilment of the promise that God would give him a son was delayed, his wife Sarah, who had lost hope, persuaded him to sleep with the Egyptian slave named Hagar. From there, parallel offspring was generated beside the descendants of Isaac. Today’s conflicts in the Middle East began with Abraham’s anxiety. See the consequences.

In today’s times, with anxiety, who wants to wait for something to be fulfilled? The person can’t wait; they want everything to be fast and on time. And when the person can’t wait, what usually happens? The person skips the dating phase and engagement and already jumps into sexual intercourse. The person says: “I didn’t know he/she was like that”. But you skipped the phases of the relationship, didn’t you? People make mistakes when they want to make things happen now. They do the wrong things and look for shortcuts.

The person wants to buy something they can’t afford now. They don’t want to save money; they want to pay in 60 instalments. Brazilians are one of the few people in the world who have a habit of paying in instalments. That’s why there are so many indebted people, such as credit card slaves. Why don’t you save money? Wait a while, and don’t become a slave to interest.

Many lose their jobs because they are frustrated with their boss or some situation at work and are made redundant. The person does not have the patience to wait for the due time or the justice of God. The person wants to do justice with their own hands. How many people are in prison because they want to do justice? The old ones have a wisdom that young people do not take advantage of. My grandmother said: “Fools rush in”. The person can’t wait.

How to overcome this anxiety, this waiting time? Jesus gave us the tip: “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:31-34).

Instead of looking for the time to see the thing happen, you must look for the Kingdom of God. That is, to seek the Kingdom of God over your life. “My God, I don’t want to compare myself. I don’t want to see if the other is growing or has already been married. I don’t want to be guided by someone’s or the demands of social media. I want what is fair before the Lord.” When you least expect it, He will add what you need and when you need it. Time is God’s, and He knows what’s best.

Meditate on this and watch the video above.
