The unheard cry

Imagem de capa - The unheard cry

Meditating on this Proverb, I found something interesting:

Wisdom calls aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open squares. 21 She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: 22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge. – Proverbs 1:20-22

In other words: there is a chance to learn something everywhere we go and in every situation we’re in. Wisdom is all around us, shouting, trying to get our attention. Lessons, spread every which way, are just waiting to be learned. Instruction is ripe and ready, waiting at the side of the road for someone passing by to take it.

Wisdom in this proverb stands for God himself (that’s why the Bible gives the word a capital “W.”) Through every opportunity, God is the one who wants to teach us something, good or bad. There’s no need for a high IQ or super-spirituality to understand. All you need is humility and attention.

The wisdom which God wants to share with us is more valuable than all the knowledge you could acquire through books and universities. It handles wisdom for life, what you need in order to conquer and establish happiness – things that the wise of this world haven’t found. Wisdom to live in a happy marriage, to live peacefully even in the middle of a war, to flee from evil, overcome oneself, and build a life of integrity.

You can acquire this wisdom as well. In order to do so, you have to learn to tune in to God’s voice above the loud voices of this world.

That’s why the Fast of Daniel is coming. It starts March 24th.
