THIS HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM FOR COUPLES! UNTIL RECENTLY…

We can draw a valuable lesson from the well, often mentioned in the Bible. Men and women played their respective roles in harmony, without conflicts because they understood the importance of their roles

Men and women are related to the well in several biblical passages and one of the teachings of this lesson is that the roles of both are well outlined and defined.

A man’s role was to find water, dig wells, build and protect, because the lives of your family and your community depended on this, that was his job. The woman’s job was to go to the well, collect water and take it home.

There were two different roles in which there was no resentment and no disputes. “Why don’t you get the water?, “Why don’t you dig the well?”, “Because I have to keep the well.” There was no such conflict of roles as we see today in so many marriages.

So, you need to learn that the roles in a marriage have to be well-defined. One needs to help the other at some point, but there will never be resentment or disputes. There will simply be work in partnership. Marriage is this – it’s you knowing each one’s role.

The woman is a helper, and there is nothing inferior in this. Helping has a huge value because the Holy Spirit is the Helper, and this does not make Him inferior to us. The person who has to help is there to support the other; it doesn’t mean they’re smaller. If the Holy Spirit is a Helper, the woman represents the Holy Spirit in her husband’s life; being an assistant does not take away the woman’s value but makes her even more valuable.

This was never an issue for many centuries because neither man nor woman questioned it; it was something natural. This is a problem today because people are drinking from other sources. And it’s not water I’m talking about.

Each couple has to decide on their roles. There are couples where the man cooks much better than the woman and is pleased to take care of the kitchen and the finances. There’s no problem with that.
The problem is that she disrespects him because he’s in the kitchen, or he thinks he’s diminished because she’s making more money than he does. So, you should fit into your role. If everything is ours, does it matter then who earns more.
But this is a problem for some because sources nowadays say: “My money, your money”. Everything is separate because they never became one. Then they’re thirsty, they’re hungry, they’re sick because they’re drinking from polluted sources.
