TIME IS AN UNSTOPPABLE WARNING: HAVE YOU ALREADY PREPARED FOR WHAT IS TO COME?
Ageing reminds us that we will all face a decisive moment: death. However, most people live only for the here and now. They are always running after something and focused on what is fleeting, so they don't realise that their time is running out.
The first month of the year is over. Today is the last day of January, which leads us to reflect on how relentless and unstoppable time is. We often live like we have all the time in the world, but this is just an illusion.
Time passes, no matter what we do (working, sleeping, or being distracted by everyday worries). And, whether we like it or not, we are all heading for a decisive moment: death. I don’t say this to be pessimistic but to highlight a reality we all must face.
Since creation, God has not planned death for the human being. He put the man in Eden and said: “[…) Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17). That is, if man had not disobeyed, death would not have entered the world. But, because of sin, human beings began to age, and life became finite.
Just look in the mirror and notice the grey hair or a new wrinkle on the face. What does that mean? They are signs that time is advancing and a reminder that, one day, our earthly journey will end. And then, the most important question arises: what will happen to our soul? The body will return to dust. The spirit, which
is intelligence, will return to God. But what about our soul?
The Bible gives us this answer:
”As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'” (Ezekiel 33:11).
God wants to restore His original plan: to offer eternal life. He created us to be with Him forever and feels no pleasure in the perdition of those who reject Him.
Therefore, He invites us to repentance and conversion. However, most people focus only on the present. Look around you: everyone seems to be running after something, busy with everyday problems, distracted by the things of this life. Unfortunately, few invest in what really matters: eternity.
Think about this through the message in the video above.
