WHEN YOU FEEL WEAK AND AFRAID (PSALM 91)

You can surround yourself with security, but total trust must be in God because He is your refuge and fortress.

“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust” (Psalm 91:2).

David was a man of war. And for years, he had to flee and hide in caves and deserts. He had to specialise in finding a refuge to take shelter from enemies. He was saying in the Psalm: “As much as I can have the ability to find a safe place and have soldiers to protect me, the Lord is my refuge and fortress”.

This reveals a profound communion of David with God and shows us something important for today because how many people seek refuge in so many things? They, for example, try to hide in friendships. I’ve already talked to people who told me that, over the weekend, they took care of their appearance and arranged with friends, went to parties, drank, and smiled, but later confessed to me that everything was a facade, a way to hide sadness.

Nowadays, people take refuge in social media, photo effects and online life. While the person is in the game, they don’t have to think about the problems. At least, the person wins something online since, in real life, they are defeated. People take refuge in these things so as not to face reality.

When we take refuge in God, He takes care of all our fear. Naturally, you fear that something terrible may happen to you. That’s why we need to take refuge in God, who tells us: “Don’t be afraid. I’m with you.” Don’t seek refuge in lucky charms, zodiac signs, or stars. This world’s idols, stones, and gurus are not our refuge.

Who has never felt like this? Who has never felt powerless in the face of sin? Who has never felt smaller than an ant? But “the Lord is my fortress”. God is incapable of failing. Everything that money can’t offer, He can. Make your plans, but don’t trust your own strength. Bow down before Him. Don’t be ashamed to bend your knees and put your face on the ground, saying, “God, help me. What should I do?”

Think about it.
